So, my very pregnant wife and I made it back safely from our vacation up to the mountains. My wife got to put time into finishing up the Guardian Angel icon she is cross stitching for our son, I got to do a little kayaking out on the lake, and we both got to do a whole lot of relaxing.
It was nice to get away alone together, even though my wife's nearing the end of her pregnancy limited us to doing very little. I believe we appreciated it all the more, knowing that this was likely the last of our vacations without little ones tagging along, at least for a couple decades.
Since I believe that it is good for the husband to take on the cooking of dinners during vacations, we had some good BBQ last week. Through some experimenting I have found a particularly good marinade for tri-tip:
Ingredients:
A good piece of Tri-Tip, lightly salted with garlic salt
An Italian red wine
Four garlic cloves, crushed and chopped
London Pub steak/pork sauce
Worcestershire Sauce
Combine and marinate for 24 hours. Slowly cook on a charcoal grill, and enjoy.

Welcome back...we missed you! Glad you are all rested up...you'll think back on these quite days wistfully...after your baby is born and sleeping through the nights becomes but a memory!
BTW...last week...our youngest turned 20!!! Yikes, I am old!
Glad you both had a restful time. The marinate looks wonderful, I'll have to give that one a try.
Neal,
I remember you well. Congrats on your future child. Remember though that the best vacations you take will be with them and you will show them the world as you see it and they will show you the world as they see it. It is always more refreshing to see it through their eyes because it gives you a new perspective on the world that you never knew existed or have long forgotten because you are now an adult.
I miss you as a Lutheran because you always gave great perspective to the word and the confessions. I must say that out of all of the people who left the Lutheran Church for the EOC, you did it with more class than anyone else.
May the Lord richly Bless you and your new family and remember that the Grandparents make the best babysitters for when you and the Mrs. need a night out.
